What’s For Dessert?
November 20, 2008
After a nice meal, there’s something about a sweet treat that leaves us feeling that much more satisfied. But dessert doesn’t have to be unhealthy or fattening. Here are some healthy dessert tips:
- Go easy on fried fruit fritters or turnovers — eat them only if they fit within your daily calorie and fat budget.
- Eat fresh whole or cut-up fruit such as apples, bananas, pears or grapes.
- For a refreshing dessert, enjoy frozen yogurt — or one scoop of ice cream. You may find low-fat versions on the restaurant menu, or order the small of kids’ size serving.
Be sure to go easy on the toppings and fudge sauce. Ask for cut-up fruit, nuts or granola toppings instead.
